Friends! You find me veeeery excited, as (after much deliberation) I’ve decided to embark on a new manuscript for multiverse romance number four. Eek! I thought I’d tell you a little bit about it.
Honestly, I wasn’t going to do this, as three books based around a multiverse premise seemed a good number. And surely there are only so many ways to add new twists on this concept, right? But then, quite apropos of nothing at all, only because I watched a movie and read a book, I thought of ANOTHER idea that’s really different from the others (which are all pretty different from each other) and is possibly my favourite concept yet.
I’ve already plotted the story out and, I’m not gonna lie – I managed to make myself cry. And I mean, full streaming tears, and I wasn’t even writing the scene, just the vague chapter outline. Yes, readers, there will be some tearjerking moments in this one. It will also be my first enemies-to-lovers romance, which is something I’ve been wanting to get my teeth into. Mwah-ha-ha.
Anyways, I won’t spoil the premise but it does still involve parallel universes, like my other three novels, and is inspired by several stories:
- The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston (although mine is not a time-slip tale);
- movie The Lake House (the one where Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock both live in the same stunning house, but a few years apart, and they communicate by Magic Mailbox);
- movie Just Like Heaven (the one where Mark Ruffalo and Reese Witherspoon live in the same apartment, except she’s an annoying sort-of ghost);
- and sci-fi book The City and The City by China Mieville, which has mind-bending parallel universes.
A pretty great combo of influences, I think. But that’s all I’ll say!
I don’t want to add more now, no spoilers, and I’m sure it’ll undergo a great many changes as I write and revise it. So, all that to say: wish me luck as I embark on this next writing journey, before book three is even out! There are zero guarantees of publication for this one, as I’m not on a four-book deal or anything, so it might all be for naught. Some might call this venture foolhardy, I say optimistic!
And here’s the thing – ultimately, even if I knew it would never be published, I’d have to write it anyways. Once a story gets in my noggin, it has to worm its way out.
Even if I get super lucky and it does see the light of day, it wouldn’t be for a long time – like, well over a year. So, in the meantime, look out for multiverse romance number three, The Love I Never Knew, which is coming your way (via Amazon) on June 13, 2024. I can’t wait for you to meet Millie and her string of hot men!
